The Weets Group

The company was founded in 1985 by Jakob Weets.

That year, he made what was probably the most difficult decision of his life—he started his own business and bought a truck.

“I was an employee and had restructured my former company. When everything was finished, I was told that I would be driving trucks again exclusively. So I said to myself: You can do better with this experience on your own, you just have to get started and not be afraid. Being self-employed means being courageous!”

Starting as a one-man business, the Weets Group has developed into a medium-sized logistics service provider with currently around 500 employees. Today, we offer a correspondingly wide range of services through our branches in Hamburg, Soltau, and Wolfsburg. Company founder Jakob Weets is the managing director and shareholder and steers the company's fortunes.

Jakob Weets, who drove trucks for many years himself, attaches great importance to a personal and collegial relationship with his employees. Weets relies on the direct employment of its employees, who work hard for the company every day and are its most important asset. The training of young people is also a major concern for the company. Despite the use of high-tech, people are also important at Weets, which is certainly a major factor in its success.

In 2013, the Weets Group acquired the insolvent Besser GmbH. The name OMAG Maschinenbau GmbH, which has a long and successful tradition, was to be revived.

In 2018, the Weets freight forwarding company, together with the Soltau Logistic Center (SLC) of the Tietje Group, opened a transshipment center for combined rail/road transport in Soltau. Regular rail transport has been operating there since June 2018. The facility is also open to third parties. Despite the proximity to the port of Hamburg, Jakob Weets decided to use rail. The reasons for this include environmental friendliness and the fact that access to the terminals in the port of Hamburg is sometimes difficult by truck.
