Rail A smart move
Weets GmbH connects the locations of Kassel, Ingolstadt, and Beiseförth with the German seaports of Hamburg, Wilhelmshaven, and Bremerhaven for import and export by block train. Domestic container depots are used for the storage of empty containers and the temporary storage of full containers. This largely avoids quay storage fees. Regular flows of goods to and from Austria, Switzerland, Czechia, Slovakia, and Hungary are handled together with long-standing and reliable partners.
DB Cargo AG is responsible for the traction of rail transport. The Weets Group is responsible for scheduling and capacity utilization. For many customers, the combination of ship and rail offers a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to direct truck transport. Around 210,000 TEU are moved each year. Customers from a wide range of business sectors appreciate the rail-based hinterland service. Thanks to the high frequency of our train services, ship departures and arrivals can be timed almost exactly.
In addition to numerous direct trains, Weets uses the Maschen marshalling yard, located south of Hamburg, as a hub. This enables direct service not only to the large seaport terminals such as EUROGATE, CTA, CTT, and BURCHARDKAI, but also to other terminals such as REMAIN, SWT, SCHUPPEN 48, and HCS. These direct connections reduce truck traffic in the Port of Hamburg, which leads to a reduction in emissions and environmental pollution, among other things.
